Chana daal onion chutney


Ingredient

2 tsp oil
1 small piece cinnamon or pattai
1 small piece cloves or krambu
1 small piece cardamon or yelakaai cardamon
2 pinches sompf or sombu
3 nos red chillies red chillies
2 tbsp chana daal or kadalai parappu
3 tbsp of fresh shreaded coconut
1/2 chopped onion
5 tbsp crushed tomato or 2 chopped tomatoes
1/2 tsp salt or more as needed
seasoning:
1 tsp oil
1 tsp mustard seeds mustard seeds
1 tsp urud dal
3 nos curry leaves

How to make Chana daal onion chutney

* In pan pour oil add pattai, krambu, yelakaai and sombu.
* Add the red chillies, chana daal and fry till light brown.
* Add chopped onion and fry till translucent, add tomatoes and salt and fry for few mins. Then add shreaded coconut and fry for 2 mins.
* Cool it and grind in mixie with little water.
* In pan pour oil and add the mustard seeds let it splutter, then add urad dal and add curry leaf and pour the grind mix and 1/4 cup of water and bring to boil and remove.
